Overview | Why iruka?

Always with the fastest way around.

What’s the fastest way to get around Tokyo?

By car? By train? No. It’s by bicycle.

If you draw a 5km-radius circle in the heart of Tokyo, it neatly covers the entire Yamanote Line loop.

Studies show that within this range, nothing moves more efficiently than a bike.

Now, imagine taking that speed and freedom with you, wherever you go.

That’s the idea behind iruka—a transformer bicycle born in Tokyo.

Transform. Run. Wait. Walk. Sleep.

Transform. Run. Wait. Walk. Sleep.

iruka is a transformer bicycle which changes its form into four modes to suit the scene. No tools are required to fold or unfold. Expand your mobility with the touch of a hand.

It’s a breeze.

It’s a breeze.

Think small wheels mean a slower ride? Hop on iruka, and you’ll know right away—it’s the exception. Experience incredible speed with the perfectly tuned gear ratio, the high-stiffness frame that turns every pedal stroke into pure power, and geometry that delivers stability at high speeds.

Optimized to be zippy.

Optimized to be zippy.

Take Chiyoda Ward, for example. It’s a compact district in central Tokyo, covering just under 12 square kilometers. But within that small area, you’ll find a 30-meter elevation change, hundreds of traffic lights, and over 100,000 cars weaving through its streets every day. In a situation like this—where sharp inclines, frequent stops, and heavy traffic are part of daily life—you need more than just speed. You need agile mobility. iruka delivers just that. With small wheels for quick acceleration and nimble turns, a wide-range gear system that adapts to everything from fast cruising to steep climbs, and compact disc brakes that provide both powerful stopping and precise control, Iruka is built to move through the city with ease. Go anywhere. Stop on a dime. Glide through the city with confidence.

Compact. For impact.

Compact. For impact.

iruka folds 30–40% smaller than typical folding bikes (*1). Its sleek and refined rectangular shape fits neatly into any space—whether it’s a car trunk, on a train, or beneath your desk. You can even store it upright (*2). If you find yourself folding it even when you don’t need to, you must have a sharp aesthetic sense—the folded aspect ratio of iruka nearly matches the Golden Ratio.

Walk it. Roll it.

Walk it. Roll it.

You might think, even compact folded bikes are a pain to carry. And you’d be right. Except with iruka. Its front and rear wheels fold parallel and coaxially, which allows you to roll iruka like a carry cart. So metro concourses*, airport terminals, and office hallways are no problem. iruka can go wherever you go. Now, where do you want to go?

* On most railway lines in Japan, you are obliged to store your bike in a bicycle bag when bringing it onto the train. You may also be asked to store it in a bag inside train stations.

Park smart.

Park smart.

Missing the kickstand? No problem. When you fold iruka’s rear wheel, the front end of the rear fork supports it and it stands on its own. It shortens to about 1 meter, needing only half the parking space of a standard bike. Even in crowded urban areas, iruka makes finding a spot a breeze. That’s smart parking.

Carry anything.

Do you like to bike even when you have a lot to carry? If so, a front basket or rear carrier may not be the smartest solution. They’re always fixed, often not the right size, and can make your bike look cluttered. That’s why iruka offers three unique carrier attachments that make the most of the space only small-wheeled bikes have. And as long as they meet certain conditions, they can even be used with other small-wheeled bikes too.

Strength + Beauty

Strength + Beauty

In order to achieve the distinct and beautiful design of the Iruka frame, we started by creating custom metal molds for nearly all the frame components, including the large-diameter, three-channel pipe used for the top tube. We chose 6061 aluminum alloy for its exceptional balance of strength and lightness. Instead of conventional painting, we applied an anodized finish for a vibrant and durable color. The result is a frame that not only meets EN/JIS Standard Strength Tests* but also leaves a lasting impression with its unforgettable beauty.
